Creating real IMPACT
The philosophy that underscores our envisaged impact is that shared value is a fundamental driver for the investment thesis in African countries given the inherited past economic imbalances characterised by the high levels of unemployment and inequality.
Our objective in participating in the socioeconomic development of the communities we do business in is to be proactive change agents. We go beyond the ad-hoc mix of philanthropic actions and limited sustainability reporting by adopting coherent methods and systems that integrate sustainability into business strategies.
Given Africa’s history of economic imbalances characterized by high levels of unemployment and inequality, we believe that shared value is a fundamental driver for the investment thesis across the continent and that empowerment through transfer of skills, insights and knowledge trumps charity. It is this philosophy that underscores our envisaged impact.
We have three pillars ( BEE, ESG and CSI) through which we realise our integrated sustainability ethos:
Environmental, Social and Governance (“ESG”)
Research has shown that incorporating ESG into investment decision-making and post investment management produces better resilient profits and can enhance exit valuations. Furthermore, investing sustainably can have a positive impact on portfolio performance and improves returns on a risk adjusted basis.
At Mamor Capital we fully embrace and integrate ESG principles into our investment processes and management. As long-term investors, embracing ESG often means making a trade-off between long-term interests and their short-term needs; this aligns well with our investment thesis.
Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE)
We see our business as a tool to drive economic transformation. Our approach to BEE is in a ground up, broad based manner, seeking to address critical areas of transformation over & beyond ownership.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
We partner with impactful platforms that help to develop and advance the following beneficiaries with skills, insights and resources:
- Women professional leaders and entrepreneurs
- SMME’s operating within the sectors we actively invest in
- Platforms that develop STEME (Science, Tech, Engineering, Maths and Entrepreneurship) skills, particularly in women
